Music

“One of the primary goals with regard to the music ministry program at Bethany United Church is to involve as many people as possible in enhancing our worship services with music. In my opinion, a musically active and vibrant congregation is a musically healthy congregation. The music program is intentionally graded in its approach so that people of all ages may find opportunities to participate in this ministry; either by singing in one of the choirs, ringing in the handbell choir, or performing on their chosen instrument. The end result being the glorification of God through music in collaboration with the spoken word. I look forward to you becoming active and vibrant in the music program at Bethany United.” –Shawn Whynot

For anyone interested in participating in any of Bethany's music programs shown below, please contact Shawn Whynot, Director of Music.

Ukulele Group: Spring 2024 - The Bethany Pluckers

Wednesdays - April 17, 24, & May 1, 8, 15, 22 @ 6:45pm in Sanctuary

Director of Music, Shawn Whynot, thru Covid-19 pandemic began offer group ukulele lessons for anyone who may be interested. The ukulele is a fun and versatile instrument that is really not that difficult to learn to play. Shawn will be offering group lessons open to ALL Ages and highlighting that previous experience and the ability to read music is not necessary to enroll in this group. The group lessons are tentatively slated for Wednesday evenings beginning this Fall to be held in the Sanctuary. If you are interested, please contact Shawn via email. There would have to be an enrollment of at least 8 people to make this happen and you would have to bring your one ukulele. If you do not have a ukulele but would like to participate, please speak to Shawn to see what can be arranged.

This group really struck a chord… with our Music Director…

“Pictured here are members of the Bethany Ukulele Spring Session Group with their instructor Shawn Whynot. For six weeks this past Spring about 20 people attended the 45-minute evening sessions learning the basics of playing the ukulele. Stay tuned, a Fall 2023 is in the works!”
