JUST OLDER YOUTH (JOY) LUNCH CLUB

A monthly luncheon held on the first Tuesday at noon (October to December and February to May) for our older youth of Bethany (ages 55+). A delicious lunch is served, prepared by our in-house chef Tim Cormier which includes coffee, tea and dessert for $10. Lunch is followed by a guest speaker on topics of interest to this community.

WALK AND TALK AND ESSENTRICS EXERCISE: WEDNESDAY MORNINGS 10:00 – 11:30AM; mid-OCTOBER to APRIL.

WALK & TALK : Whether you are a fast or slow walker and/or talker we welcome you to join us as we walk the meandering hallways and rooms of this building to stay healthy and fit during the winter months. Coffee, tea, healthy smoothies, crossword puzzles and conversation follow the walk. Once a month Rev. Kevin joins us with a thought provoking question engaging us in conversation. Exercise, eating well and community engagement are essential to living a healthy lifestyle so bring a friend or family member and walk and talk with us! A small weekly donation is accepted to cover the cost of refreshments.

ESSENTRICS EXERCISE FOR FITNESS, PAIN RELIEF AND FLEXIBILITY:

A dynamic workout based on the theories of Miranda Esmonde-White that simultaneously lengthens and strengthens every muscle in the body, resulting in greater joint mobility and lean, long muscles. A completely original workout that draws on the flowing movements of tai chi which create health and balance, the strengthening theories behind ballet which create long, lean, flexible muscles and the healing principles of physiotherapy which create a pain free body. This a PBS program and will be DVD led, and it is free! All are welcome. No exercise equipment necessary, just comfortable clothes!

Conversation Circle: *

The Community Connections Working Group is pleased to announce that Bethany will continue to host a Conversation Circle for newcomers once a week in a term format. Julie MacDonald, ISANS Instructor, is excited to team up with Bethany volunteers who may like to engage in very beginning level conversation with new immigrants age 55 plus. No previous experience is required, just a friendly welcoming smile! Julie creates the lesson plans and our volunteers provide assistance with her class of 10 newcomers. Volunteers will operate on a rotational schedule each term and therefore your commitment need not be every week or for the entire year.
