Confirmation and Membership Opportunities

Every year, a confirmation service is being considered to take place.  New and transferring members are formally accepted on this day.  In order to become confirmed or a member, more information is provided as follows:

Confirmation, New Members, and Transfer of Membership

All persons who gather at Bethany United for their spiritual care are part of our church family. Period. However, there are certain types of congregational votes and offices where only "members" can vote or serve. These opportunities are extremely rare but there are many of you who ask me how one becomes a member at Bethany.

There are two ways to do this.

1) If you are already a member of another church you can write/call that church and ask them to send us confirmation of your membership and your intention to transfer.

2) if you not already a member of any church you can participate in one-on-one sessions with Kevin reviewing the United Church history, governance and practice.

If you are interested in joining the church please inform our minister, Kevin.

Youth Confirmation

We would like to hear from any youth in grade 8 or higher who would like to be confirmed in the spring. We need at least four people committed in order to run the program. If you have any questions, please get in touch with Louisa or Ann and we will be happy to chat. Thank you!

There is no need to be confirmed or formally join Bethany to be part of our faith community. All are welcome to attend our services or participate in our many activities. We urge you to contact Rev. Kevin and/or Louisa or Ann, even if you are not yet sure whether you wish to be confirmed or become a member of Bethany. It is important to note, however, that in some instances of decision making (i.e., on important matters facing the church), or to participate in some of the boards and committees within the church, membership is required.

Full contact information for our ministry team can be found here.

Feel free to print this form and drop off to the office.
